Allergy season seems like allergy years nowadays. Those that suffer from allergies, or are coming down with something, have congestion and are feeling yucky we have something for you!! Thanks to Virginia, we have this yummy recipe that she swears by. She suggests playing around with the ingredient measurements. The important thing is that they are paired with veggies instead of any wheat/ bread because that can cause extra mucus. Enjoy.
Those that are coming down with something, have congestion, and are feeling horrible do I have something for you!! Thanks to the Wholistic Life Center I got this amazing dip and put my own little twist on things.
1 container of red pepper hummus (raw with no preservatives)
(the original calls for 2 large ripe avocados - you can do this instead of the hummus - I just like hummus better :)
1 bunch fresh parsley, chopped
( herbalist.com - can inhibit the body’s histamines - great for colds and congestion, helps aid digestion, and is a diuretic.)
12 cloves garlic, chopped
(According to "The Herbal Home Remedy Book," garlic's antibiotic properties can help a wide spectrum of illnesses, including colds, sore throats, strained muscles, and earache)
1 medium white onion, chopped
( herbalist.com - helps fighting germs and is great for the urinary tract.)
1 teaspoon up to 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper (put as much in as you can take)
(Nature’sHealthFoods.com - properties such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, diuretic)
1/2 teaspoon ground thyme or to taste
Preparation:
1. In a food processor, chop parsley until it is fine.
2. Add all remaining ingredients and puree until smooth for up to 30 seconds. * If you are making this with avocados instead of Hummus, make sure you remove pits and scoop out the flesh from the skin
3. Serve with an assortment of sliced raw veggies or non-wheat crackers (wheat can cause inflammation and mucus.)
